There are lots of freshmen guards scoring points and earning rave reviews early in the season, but the best freshman big man at the varsity level is clearly 6-foot-6 Roy Hemsley of L.A. Windward.

He more than held his own against 6-10 Grant Jerrett of La Verne Lutheran on Tuesday during the Wildcats’ 64-62 victory, according to observers.

Hemsley is becoming a force as a rebounder and defender. And he’s only 14. That’s scary.
