Salary Hike to Be Weighed: A proposed 8% salary increase for non-teachers will be considered tonight by the Cypress School District Board of Trustees. Also, under the proposal fewer years would be required for the employee to get an automatic pay raise. Currently, employees get a 2% raise after eight years with the district. The number of years would be reduced to six, said district Supt. William Calton. A scheduled 4% raise after 13 years would be changed to 11 years; a 6% boost would be for 16 years rather than 18 and an 8% increase would occur after 21 years instead of 23, Calton said. About 100 classified employees would be affected by the new contract.
