Fashion model Christina Ferrare, estranged wife of former auto magnate John Z. DeLorean, charged that he has locked her out of their exclusive apartment on New York’s 5th Avenue purely out of spite. Ferrare obtained an order in Manhattan Supreme Court calling on DeLorean to show by April 10 why she should not have exclusive possession of the ninth-floor residence. In court papers, Ferrare said her husband purchased the apartment during their 11-year marriage and that it is community property under law in California, where she has filed for divorce. The divorce action began last October after DeLorean’s acquittal in Los Angeles federal court on cocaine conspiracy charges. Ferrare, a co-host on a morning television talk show in Los Angeles, has also resumed her modeling career which, she says, requires her to return to New York, “often on a moment’s notice.”
