There were more incidents of racial violence and vandalism in Los Angeles County in 1984 than in the previous year, but the number of religiously motivated incidents declined, according to a report by the county Commission on Human Relations. The commission found 13 incidents against minorities in 1984, an increase of 18%. The study also showed a 13% decrease in religiously motivated incidents from 81 incidents in 1983 to 70 incidents last year--the third year in a row showing a decline. Most such incidents were anti-Semitic. More than half occurred at residences, with another 12 occurring in synagogues. The report also showed no areas of the county were immune from racial and religiously motivated acts, with incidents scattered through areas as diverse as San Marino, Claremont, Westchester, Monterey Park, Torrance, Lynwood, and Van Nuys.
