Britain Outlaws Badger Baiting as ‘Blood Sport’

LONDON —
British politicians from all parties cheered today as a tough new law aimed at stamping out the bloody sport of badger baiting was approved by Parliament.
The crackdown on those who send dogs into badgers’ underground homes to flush them out and then beat them to death with sticks and spades follows widespread protests from pressure groups opposed to “blood sports” such as fox-hunting.
