Hilltop High School’s Ellis del Sol and Valhalla’s Mark Dani, the county’s top distance runners, will take their battle north on Saturday in the mile run in the high school portion of the Puma-Mt. San Antonio Relays, which begins today at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday morning at 8:30 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Del Sol leads the county in the 1,500 (3:59.34), mile (4:17.5) and 3,200 (9:03.65). Dani is the county leader in the 1,600 (4:17.4) and the two mile (9:40.6).

“I’m also running the mile at Orange Glen,” Del Sol said. “So I might be a little flat. But I’m trying to keep that out of mind. I hope to run a 4:13 or 4:12 on Saturday.”
