Santa Monica Club Tries to Break Record in 3,200-Meter Relay
The Santa Monica Track Club will attempt to break the American record in the 3,200-meter relay tonight in the distance carnival portion of the Puma-Mt. San Antonio Relays at Walnut.
Johnny Gray, the U.S. record-holder in the 800 at 1 minute 42.96 seconds, will anchor a team composed of Mark Handelsman, David Mack and Jeff West.
The American record is 7:08.96 set by Arizona State in 1984.
