A Costa Mesa boy who was electrically shocked on May 19 when he grabbed power lines while climbing a tree died Sunday at Fountain Valley Community Hospital, an Orange County coroner’s spokesman said.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of Noel Meyers, 15, but Senior Coroner Deputy Rick Plows said the cause is believed to be complications from the shock.

The youth had been climbing a tree in the rear of his home in the 800 block of Santiago Road when he became tangled in nearby power lines, Plows said.
