An unidentified man was shot in the abdomen by a Huntington Beach police officer after the man assertedly pointed a gun at another officer. Sgt. P.R. Swan said the victim was treated at the scene and taken to Fountain Valley Trauma Center where he was reportedly in critical condition. Swan said police answered a call about a drunk in a vehicle and found the man asleep in the front seat. When an officer played a light on him, Swan said, the man pointed a gun at the officer and was then shot by the officer’s partner. Police initially declined to identify the officers involved.
