College Elects 2 From Torrance

Two Torrance residents have been elected to student leadership posts at El Camino College.

Randall Parker was elected president of the 27,000-member Associated Students for the coming school year. A sophomore majoring in accounting, he is a graduate of North Torrance High School.

Ann Marie Bridi was elected student representative to the college’s Board of Trustees. A Torrance High graduate, she is a sophomore majoring in marketing. She will be a non-voting participant at trustees’ meetings.

Jan K. Baird of Hawthorne has been named executive director of the Westchester/LAX Chamber of Commerce. Previously she was director of development for the Constitutional Rights Foundation.

Joe and Anna Zelinski of Redondo Beach have been given an Older American Award by Los Angeles County Supervisor Deane Dana. Joe, past president of the South Redondo Beach Senior Citizens Club, and Anna have volunteered for a variety of community activities. They received volunteer awards from the city last year.

A Hawthorne student, Monica Rudder, is among three recipients of Outstanding Student Awards from the School of Science, Mathematics and Technology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. A computer science major, she has a 3.91 grade average on a scale of 4.

Wayne Graves, a 32-year veteran with the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department, was honored by his colleagues at a retirement party recently. A Westchester resident, he directed the department’s aquatics, cultural affairs and theater arts programs.

Tony Trutanich, president of the Redondo Pier Assn., has been named the Redondo Chamber of Commerce’s businessman of the year. A former commercial fisherman, he has been a restaurateur at the pier since 1953.
