“Top Ten Fugitives” is the name of a new San Diego police campaign to catch the city’s most-wanted suspects.

The program announced Tuesday involves distribution of monthly lists of 10 felony suspects to agencies such as Crime Stoppers and to newspapers. Police said they hope the increased publicity will involve the public in tracking down the fugitives.

“Certain felony crimes are more spectacular and receive more coverage,” said police spokesman Bill Robinson. “You remember the woman who was raped on the freeway. These are the less-publicized crimes.”

He said the fugitives listed would be people believed to be in San Diego County, although their alleged crimes might have been committed elsewhere.

The first list of fugitives includes Joseph Juarez Moreno, 45, wanted on suspicion of murder; Senobio Soto, 28, on suspicion of attempted murder; Ignacio Becera (Nacho) Jasso, 43; Juan Juarez, 32, and Jefferson Freedom, 43, all on suspicion of child molesting; Frank Antonio Dias, 29, on suspicion of rape; Walter Earl Singleton, 33, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, and Jorge Adrian Carballo, 42, on suspicion of auto theft.

Two of the fugitives were captured before the list was printed. They are Richard Glen Lovelace, 34, wanted on suspicion of robbery, and Sonja Marie Coffey, 33, the only woman on the list, wanted on suspicion of forgery and for escape from prison.

Anyone with information about any of the suspects should call the San Diego Police Department Fugitive Detail at 236-7020 or the Crime Stoppers hot line at 235-TIPS.
