Man Arrested in San Gabriel Valley Murder Released
A man once considered a prime suspect in at least one of the recent murders of women in the San Gabriel Valley has been released, authorities said.
Miguel Paez, 25, of Highland Park was arrested by sheriff’s investigators Tuesday in connection with the March 17 slaying of Dayle Okazei, 34, of Rosemead, Deputy Bob Stoneman said. However, after detectives conducted long interviews with Paez, no charges were filed and he was released.
Brutal attacks on women in the San Gabriel Valley in recent weeks have investigators baffled. Other victims were two women who were killed in Arcadia and two sisters who were severely beaten in nearby Monrovia, one of whom died in the hospital Monday.
