A 2-year-old child was killed late Tuesday and her parents were seriously injured in a traffic accident on California 163, the California Highway Patrol said.
The family was heading north in the right-hand lane just south of Balboa Avenue when their car hit a tow truck that was partly pulled onto the shoulder, a CHP spokesman said.
Gary K. Lau, 32, suffered a broken neck and his wife, Susie Lau, 34, suffered major head injuries. Their daughter, Christina, was pronounced dead at the scene. The family is from San Diego.
