KCET PRODUCING ‘PREVIN’ PROGRAM

Share

“Mr. Previn Comes to Town,” an hourlong program commemorating the arrival of Andre Previn as musical director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, is being produced by KCET Channel 28 and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn. The program is scheduled to air on PBS stations across the country in December.

Previn takes the helm of the Philharmonic Oct. 10, and the television program will include highlights of that premiere concert at the Music Center. He also will be seen in rehearsal and performance with the Vienna Philharmonic, and in interviews he will talk about conducting and his musical life.

The special is funded by a grant from Atlantic Richfield Co. (Arco). Robin Lough, who worked with Previn on the BBC’s “Andre Previn’s Music Nights,” is directing the program, and Stephen Dick, who wrote and produced PBS’ “Previn & the Pittsburgh,” is executive producer. Program executive for KCET is David L. Crippens.
