SCHLAMME DATES CANCELED BY ILLNESS

Chanteuse Martha Schlamme remains in a coma after a massive stroke suffered 5 1/2 weeks ago in New York. The singer’s illness has forced the cancellation of all performance dates, including her Los Angeles appearance in November as part of the Chamber Music in Historic Sites series, according to her manager, Arthur Shafman.
Schlamme was in mid-performance at the Chautauqua Festival in Upstate New York when she fell ill from a severe brain hemmorhage, Shafman said. She was taken to a hospital, where she slipped into a coma.
A Martha Schlamme Fund has been established in the singer’s honor to assist arts students, Schafman said. Schlamme was scheduled to appear in a cabaret concert at the Variety Arts Centre on Nov. 24.
