More than 300 of Pasadena Unified School District’s 1,100 teachers carried signs and marched near district headquarters during Monday’s Board of Education meeting to protest an impasse in wage negotiations. Saul Glickman, president of the United Teachers of Pasadena, said bargaining for salaries and benefits stalled last week and teachers plan to stage a boycott of back-to-school night during the first week in October. Instead of greeting parents in their classrooms, Glickman said, teachers will stand in front of schools and hand out literature explaining their wage and benefit requests. A mediator has taken over negotiations.
