W.R. Grace & Co. reported a 29% drop in earnings for the third quarter, partly because of a slumping farm economy that depressed prices for its fertilizer products. Grace, which also has interests in specialty chemicals, restaurants, retailing and natural resources, said its profit totaled $24.8 million on sales of $1.73 billion in the period.
