Share

An Oceanside man was arrested late Wednesday on drug charges by U.S. postal inspectors, becoming the 14th employee at the Santa Ana General Mail Facility held for allegedly selling cocaine, marijuana and other drugs. Another person, not an employee, was also arrested Wednesday.

Howard Triplett, 36, a distribution clerk at the post office at 1325 Sunflower Ave., was arrested on charges of selling cocaine, according to W. L. Watson, spokesman for the postal inspector. Triplett had been employed in Santa Ana, where most of Orange County’s mail is sorted, since May 14, 1984, Watson said. The arrests, based on state and federal warrants, were made by a force of 50 postal inspectors and followed a seven-week investigation at the facility that included undercover drug purchases by inspectors.
