Two L. A. Developments Receive Excellence Awards
Two Los Angeles area developments are among five nationwide that received 1985 Awards of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute at the organizations fall meeting in Phoenix. They are:
--Vista Montoya, a $13-million, 180-unit condominium project for low- and moderate-income households on a 3-acre infill site at 1425 West 12th St. in downtown Los Angeles.
It was developed by the nonprofit Pico-Union Neighborhood Council with the assistance of the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency and was completed in October, 1984; all units were sold by last fall.
--Sea Colony, consisting of 187 condominium residences on about six acres of beachfront land at 2910-60 Neilson Way in the Ocean Park section of Santa Monica, a part of the Ocean Park Redevelopment Project and one of the largest single projects approved in Southern California by the state Coastal Commission.
The sellout value exceeded $60 million. The development team was led by Dominion Property Co. and included, among others, the Santa Monica Redevelopment Agency.
The ULI awards are presented annually to recognize development projects that demonstrate superior design, relevance to contemporary issues and needs, and resourceful utilization of land while improving the quality of the living environment.
