Rosemead : Garvey Board Elects Barron
Gilbert Barron, who emerged from a recount to take his seat by a one-vote victory in the Nov. 5 election, has been elected president of the Garvey School District Board of Education. Virginia Gutierrez, another newly elected member, has been named vice president of the board, and incumbent Robert Miranda has been named clerk.
Barron, Gutierrez and Miranda make up a new majority which had been critical of the administration and the old board during the campaign. The others on the five-member board are Jim Smith and Judy Chu, also a new member.
