The jetliner order is valued at about $2.1 billion. The Lufthansa order includes six on firm order and options for nine aircraft to replace older 747-200s. The jets are scheduled for delivery beginning in February, 1989, Boeing said in a news release. Also, Boeing President Frank Shrontz said his company will start manufacturing a major component of 747 jumbo jets in Canada. The decision to build wing-to-body fairings in Canada will give Boeing credit against the $155-million (Canadian) purchase of de Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
