Headlines on Ramirez Case

Share

I, a normal person, was completely grossed out by reading the first few paragraphs of your article in this morning’s paper. Needless to say, I didn’t read any further.

I wish to register a loud complaint about your printing that type of information in a newspaper that is read by the citizens of this area. If anyone wanted to pursue the grisly details about Ramirez’ alleged actions and thoughts during the process of committing murders, he could look into more restricted sources. In other words, the seeker could search the information out.

By printing it so blatantly on the front page of the Metro section, your newspaper is conceivably providing step-by-step directions for fresh murders to be executed by mentally ill readers who read about Ramirez and think it would be “fun” to emulate his alleged actions and perhaps become equally renowned. I concede that a lot of mentally ill folk already have ideas along those lines, but some might be influenced by reading when they had not had murder or mutilation on their minds previously.
