COMMENCEMENT 1986 : California Lutheran University
California Lutheran University held its commencement exercises at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Clef Stadium.
Degrees: 274 undergraduate and 179 master’s diplomas awarded.
Speaker: William E. Hamm, vice president of administration, who is leaving the college.
Honorary Degrees:
Robert D. Nesen, doctor of law. He is a former ambassador to Australia.
The Rev. Walter Grumm, doctor of divinity. He is president of the Pacific Regional Synod of the Assn. of Evangelical Lutheran Churches.
The Rev. Shitose Kishi, doctor of humane letters.
Other Graduations:
Dr. John MacArthur spoke Saturday at The Master’s College in Newhall. He is president of the school, which awarded two associate of arts degrees, 32 bachelor’s degrees and 40 degrees in a one-year Bible-study program called The Master’s Institute.
Musician-composer John Cage was awarded an honorary doctor of performing arts degree May 9 at California Institute of the Arts. Diplomas were awarded to 225 undergraduate and master’s students.
