A handcuffed man drew a hidden pistol and shot two New York police officers from the back seat of their cruiser, wounding one critically, then was shot to death by officers in another car as he tried to flee, officials said. En route to the police station, the suspect pulled out a .45-caliber pistol and fired at the officers in the front seat. One officer was shot in the upper left back, and his partner was shot in the face. The bullet passed through both cheeks, a police spokesman said. Policemen in a trailing car “saw the car swerve and the officers fall out” and they fired at the suspect, killing him.
