Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.) scheduled floor debate on the Finance Committee’s tax revision bill to start next week but indicated that major work on the measure would not begin quickly. An aide said Dole met with Finance Committee Chairman Bob Packwood (R-Ore.) and decided to open debate on the measure next Wednesday, shortly after Congress returns from its Memorial Day recess.
