Linebacker George Mira Jr., the University of Miami’s leading tackler in 1985, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, fleeing police, assault and illegal possession of a prescription steroid in Miami. Mira, 21, was released from the Dade County Jail into the custody of his father, George Mira Sr., a former star quarterback with the Hurricanes who played professionally with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.
The drug charge involves a vial labeled “testosterone cyprionate,” which was described by a chemical expert as a long-acting male sex hormone prescribed legally to treat delayed puberty. The drug is a steroid that increases muscle mass.
