Garden Grove : Agreement Opens Way for New 150-Bed Motel
The city’s Agency for Community Development announced approval of an agreement with La Quinta Motor Inns that could lead to construction of a 150-bed motel, considered by local officials to be a key element in the city’s redevelopment plans.
The agreement grants La Quinta exclusive rights to negotiate with the agency for construction of the motel. The agency’s plans for the 5 1/2-acre area on the north side of Garden Grove Boulevard between Haster and Sungrove streets also include at least one restaurant and the possibility of an office building.
According to an agency spokesman, building the motel is considered crucial to “extending the commercial market from The City in Orange into Garden Grove.”
