Concord Police Chief George Straka and his wife, Gloria, were in stable condition at Mt. Diablo Hospital, undergoing treatment for injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, authorities said. Straka was riding with his wife as a passenger when he lost control of his cycle on a rural road, the California Highway Patrol said. Both were wearing helmets. The police chief suffered internal injuries. His wife suffered multiple abrasions, authorities said. Straka is an experienced motorcyclist, having served in the past as Concord’s motorcycle sergeant, a police spokesman said.
