Six Popper Wins the All-American Derby; Earns $367,055 in 21.77 Seconds at Ruidoso
Favored Six Popper, ridden by Alex Baldillez, got an excellent jump out of the starting gate and scored a front-running victory Sunday in the $857,566 All-American Derby for 3-year-old quarter horses.
The victory was worth $367,055 for Six Popper’s owners, B.F. Phillips and Minnie R. Wood of Frisco, Texas.
Pyromaniac closed strongly to take second place, while Dash S Shadow, a stablemate of Six Popper, finished third.
Six Popper was timed in 21.77 seconds and paid $5.00, $3.20 and $3.60. Pyromaniac paid $4.00, while Dash S Shadow, coupled with Six Popper, returned $3.60.
