Garden Grove : Robbers Hit Store Clerk, Flee With Cash Register
Robbers struck a 7-Eleven clerk in the face with a bottle, kicked him and then fled with the cash register early Friday, police said.
Two men entered the convenience store at 13511 Fairview St. about 3:50 a.m., assaulted the 22-year-old clerk and grabbed the register, Police Lt. Larry Hodges said.
They fled in a car containing two other men.
During a search of the neighborhood, officers spotted and arrested one suspect, Joseph Lefu Tauiluli, 18, of Garden Grove. He was booked into County Jail on suspicion of robbery and assault. The other three suspects escaped.
Police also found the store’s cash register in a car, Hodges said.
The store clerk was taken to the Medical Center of Garden Grove for treatment of cuts on his face and released.
