A former professor, arrested in New Jersey on a California warrant charging him with abducting his son nine years ago, was hiding a cache of explosives on his body, police said. Blair Sidney Allen, 34, was arrested in Egg Harbor Township after police spotted him walking with the 11-year-old boy and recognized him from a Contra Costa County warrant. Police discovered 11 explosive devices hidden in his clothing, another in the child’s backpack, more--including a pipe bomb--in their motel room and yet two more in a rented storage locker. Investigators said the devices were mostly incendiary in nature, with sophisticated detonation systems. “I don’t know what he was into or what he was looking to do, but I don’t think he was up to much good,” said one of the arresting officers. Allen was jailed without bail on a variety of charges.
