Former Texas Track Coach Cleburne Price Dies

Cleburne Price, director of the Texas Relays and longtime track coach at Texas, died Friday from the effects of a stroke suffered last weekend. He was 57.

Price served as track coach for 15 years until he resigned last year and assumed the limited duties of assistant to the athletic director and director of the relays, Texas athletic officials said.

He coached several NCAA track and field champions, including Robert Primeaux in the 440-yard hurdles (1973), Jim McGoldrick in the discus (1975), Dana LeDuc in the shotput (1976), Einar Vihjalmsson in the javelin (1984), and James Lott in the high jump, Eric Metcalf in the long jump and Dag Wenlund in the javelin (1986).
