La Sierra Beats Laguna Beach
Laguna Beach High School, playing without its leading rusher, Jonathan Todd, lost to La Sierra, 10-6, Friday night at Riverside City College in the first round of the Southern Section Desert-Mountain Conference playoffs.
Andy Myers, usually a blocker for Todd, who injured his knee last week, carried 27 times for 141 yards. The Artists (8-3) got inside La Sierra’s 12-yard line but failed to score either time.
La Sierra scored in the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown pass from Ed Browning to Doug Burke. Browning was 9 of 22 for 144 yards.
Laguna Beach tied the game in the third quarter on a 14-yard pass from Danny Lane to Brock Stephens with 4:37 left.
In the fourth quarter La Sierra scored again on 28-yard field goal by Burke.
