The low-rated freshman series “Heart of the City” got the ax Thursday from ABC, which will replace that cop show with another one starring Pat Morita of “The Karate Kid.”

“Heart of the City,” which featured Robert Desiderio as a police detective with two children, ranks 74th in the Nielsen ratings among the 75 prime-time series that have aired this season.

Its 9 p.m. Saturday time slot will be filled beginning Jan. 17 by “Ohara,” in which Morita portrays what ABC described as “a sensitive man who abhors violence (yet) nonetheless is willing to put his life on the line to fight for the underdog.”
