Concerns Unnoticed

Thank you for the Dec. 8 article concerning the impact on employees of the Limited Partners’ takeover bid for Carter Hawley Hale.

All too often in these major takeover bids the employees of target companies are little heard from. Their concerns go unnoticed amid the power plays of corporate adversaries.

During the past several years, numerous successful takeovers have spelled disaster for employees.

Employees were fired, laid off and coerced into early retirement.

For those who stayed on the job there was a distinct possibility of having their salaries or wages cut and benefits reduced.

It’s an unsettling time for those loyal employees who put in a 40-hour week for a piece of the American pie.
