The Region : Compton Teachers Call Another Strike
For the seventh time in two months, Compton teachers went out on strike in protest of stalled contract negotiations, union officials said. Wiley Jones, executive director of the Compton Education Assn., the teacher’s union, said about 90% of the district’s 1,400 teachers stayed away from class. The teachers planned another walkout today, Jones said, and would decide at that time whether to return to school or continue the strike. District officials were unavailable for comment.
