Loyola Drops Deeper Into Cellar, 78-66
Freshman Greg Anthony and reserve center Rich Antee led a second-half surge that lifted Portland to a 78-66 West Coast Athletic Conference victory Saturday night over Loyola Marymount.
Portland led, 41-40, at halftime, but Antee scored 11 straight Portland points as the Pilots built a 13-point lead midway through the second half. Loyola Marymount could get no closer than seven the rest of the game.
Anthony led the Pilots with 21 points, and Antee had a career-high 15. Enoch Simmons scored 21 points to lead the Lions, while Mark Armstrong and Dennis Vogel scored 10 apiece. Chris Yoest grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for Loyola.
The victory boosted Portland to 6-5 in the WCAC and 14-10 overall. Loyola Marymount dropped deeper into last place in the conference standings at 2-9. The Lions are 10-14 overall.
