Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna Life & Casualty posted increased profit and higher operating earnings for the fourth quarter of 1986. In addition, profit for the year took a big jump. Most of the earnings improvement occurred in the firm’s casualty-property businesses, where progress was made toward reaching an acceptable level of profitability, a spokesman said.
