Rudy Castruita, an associate superintendent in the Santa Ana Unified School District, has been appointed to the State Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Hispanic Affairs.

The appointment was announced by Bill Honig, state superintendent of public instruction, who named Castruita to the post.

Honig said the advisory council provides him a direct link to the Latino community, and he said this is useful in securing advice on how state education can best help Latino children. The council is composed of about 25 prominent Latino leaders from throughout the state, representing the fields of business, education and community development.
