Temples Plan Traditional Seders

Pesach, or Passover, is the Jewish season of freedom celebrating the Israelites deliverance from Egypt. Passover seders, dinners commemorating the exodus, will be held at several area synagogues next week.

Rabbi Steven D. Schatz will officiate at a community seder at 6:30 p.m. Monday, the first day of Passover, at Temple Isaiah, 2401 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach. Symbolic foods representing ancient customs will be served at dinner, which costs $25 for adults and $10 for children age 13 and under. Dinner will follow prayers and readings from the Haggada. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Temple Beth Emet, 1770 W. Cerritos Ave., Anaheim, will hold a second-day Passover seder. Cantors Philip Moddel and Charles Segelbaum and Rabbi Irwin Brandwein will recount the story of Passover. The meal will cost $29 for those 13 years and older, $25 for senior citizens, $18 for children 6 through 13 and $15 for children 6 and under. For reservations and information, call (714) 772-4720.

An Interfaith Seder will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Beth David, 6100 Hefley St., Westminster. Clergy from St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Los Alamitos will conduct the Passover observance, a traditional seder during which the rituals will be explained. For information, call (714) 892-6623.
