The ‘Leashing’ of Children
My brother, sister and I grew up in England and it was the custom to use harnesses to keep children safe when out in the streets. I remember that ours had bright colors and were adorned with silver bells that tinkled when we ran or walked. We didn’t feel dehumanized or that we were being treated like a dog.
We are very thankful that our parents cared enough to protect us and keep us safe so that we could grow up and become adults.
More power to those parents who care to leash or harness their little ones. They will live to enjoy another day.
