Grenadian Prime Minister Herbert Blaize announced he will not replace two key political leaders who quit his Cabinet to protest plans to lay off 1,800 government employees. George Brizan resigned Thursday as education minister, and Francis Alexis quit as attorney general and legal affairs minister. Blaize said he would not replace them because the Cabinet will now be “much stronger than 12 divided.” The government plans the worker layoff as part of austerity measures aimed at improving Grenada’s economy.
