Arsonists destroyed a one-story building in West Berlin used to process applications from foreigners seeking asylum, police said. About 6,000 applications were lost in the early-morning blaze, but no injuries were reported. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the fire. In February, a nearby asylum building was the target of an arson attack claimed by the left-wing extremist group Revolutionary Cells. The group said it was protesting immigration authorities’ handling of asylum-seekers.
