San Diego
Fire at National University’s telecommunications center caused at least $400,000 damage late Monday afternoon, the San Diego Fire Department reported.
There were reports that people were trapped in the elevators of the three-story building, at 4141 Camino del Rio South, but when firefighters opened the elevators they found no one. About 350 people were evacuated from the building, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Stewart.
No injuries were reported.
A malfunction in the main electrical panel caused the fire, and power to the building has been disconnected, Stewart said.
