La Verne : Planning Revision Drafted

Share

The first comprehensive revision of the La Verne General Plan, adopted in 1974, is being drafted by city officials.

Based on public response from a series of neighborhood workshops and a citywide mail survey, the plan will not recommend significant density increases anywhere in the city, said Steven A. Preston, the city’s principal planner.

Other major policy decisions will include a tightening of development standards in hilly north La Verne, minimizing the impact of the Route 30 freeway when it is eventually completed and preservation of the city’s old town area, Preston said.

The revision will cost the city about $117,000 and is expected to be completed by October. The first public hearing will be held Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Lutheran High School.
