Share

Four office buildings in the Greater Los Angeles area were recipients of the third annual Building of the Year awards, sponsored by the Building Owners & Managers Assn.

They included the Pacific Corporate Towers, in the over 500,000-square-foot category--a master planned, two-phase complex on Sepulveda Boulevard in El Segundo; First Federal Square in the under 500,000-square-foot category, a diamond-shaped structure at Wilshire Boulevard and 4th Street in Santa Monica.

Also winners were Pacific Mutual Building (historical category) built in segments from 1908 through 1936 in downtown Los Angeles, and Continental Park, a showcase for community restoration and revitalization. The 2 million-square-foot business park in El Segundo was developed over the past two decades.

Member of the Year awards went to former BOMA president Barbara S. Harris, vice president and general manager of Murdock Management Co., and Al Poletti of American Building Maintenance Inc.

In addition to the awards ceremonies, BOMA’s special guest speaker, Bob Ortiz, executive vice president of Cushman Realty, presented the “Cushman View” of Los Angeles area commercial real estate-past and present.

The program was developed by BOMA to showcase outstanding examples of commercial office buildings and their influence on the community.
