Local News in Brief : Pacoima Man Shot to Death; Suspect Calls In, Surrenders
An early-morning dispute Monday on a street in Pacoima left one man dead and another in jail on suspicion of murder, Los Angeles police said.
Lt. Bernard D. Conine said Victor M. Contreras, 37, of Pacoima, was shot to death on the street in the 13000 block of Daventry Street about 12:30 a.m. About three hours after the shooting, Jose Morales, 26, also of Pacoima, called police, said he had shot Contreras and surrendered to detectives at the Foothill Division police station, Conine said.
Conine said officers did not know the nature of the argument that led to the shooting.
