This weekend provides the true sports fanatic with an abundance of action in nearly every major sport.
Bouncing back from a two-game deficit against the Minnesota Twins, the St. Louis Cardinals have a chance to clinch the World Series as the best-of-seven championship returns to the Metrodome for Game Six today at 12:30 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42). If the Twins are victorious, Game Seven will be played Sunday at 5 p.m. on those same stations.
Meanwhile, with pro football players back on the field, armchair quarterbacks can settle into their easy chairs for a pair of telecasts on Sunday. First comes the San Francisco 49ers vs. New Orleans Saints at 10 a.m. (2)(8), then Kansas City-San Diego at 1 p.m. (4).
In college football today, Notre Dame hosts USC at 10:30 a.m. (one hour earlier than listed in TV Times) on CBS (2)(8) and ABC has the UCLA-Cal contest at 4 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42). Prime Ticket cable will carry the latter game Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
On the basketball court, the Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers meet in a preseason test today at 5 p.m. on Channels 9 and 63.
Pro basketball fans also can catch ABC’s telecast of an exhibition involving the Soviet national team and an NBA opponent. The Milwaukee Bucks provide the opposition Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42).
In addition, the Soviet basketball team will play Tracer Milan of Italy at 5:05 p.m. today on WTBS cable.
