Chicago Loyola 78, Wisconsin 75--Gerald Hayward scored 25 points and Keith Carter had 18, including two free throws with 10 seconds to play and two more with no time left, as the Ramblers (3-1) overcame the Badgers at Madison, Wis.

Wisconsin (4-3) thought it had tied the game with 13 seconds left on a long shot by Tim Locum, but an official ruled Locum’s foot was on the three-point line, making the basket worth two points. Locum missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Trent Jackson had 27 points for Wisconsin.

LSU 55, Maryland 54--Fess Irvin hit a 16-foot jump shot with one second left to lift the Tigers to a victory over the Terrapins at Baton Rouge, La.

The Terrapins (5-2) took a 53-51 lead on Teyon McCoy’s three-point basket with 1:43 left and extended the lead to three points on McCoy’s free throw 12 seconds later. But Kyle McKenzie hit two free throws for the Tigers (3-0) with 41 seconds left and Maryland’s Jon Johnson missed a free throw with 25 seconds remaining to set up Irvin’s winning shot.

Jose Vargas had 16 points and 10 rebounds for LSU.

San Jose State 65, Illinois Chicago 54--Ricky Berry scored 20 points and the Spartans took third place in Illini Classic by downing the Flames at Champaign, Ill.

Illinois Chicago (2-4) led, 33-29, at halftime, but Berry scored 17 of his points in the second half to rally San Jose (3-2) to victory.

St. Joseph’s 53, Villanova 52--Freshman guard Ivan Brown hit a 14-footer with 14 seconds left to push the Hawks past the Wildcats at Villanova, Pa.

Villanova (5-2) seemed in control, but Doug West missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity with eight seconds left, giving St. Joseph’s (2-3) a chance for Brown’s shot.

Arkansas 66, Virginia 52--Ron Huery scored 15 points and Chris Brunt came off the bench to score 11 as the Razorbacks beat the Cavaliers at Fayetteville, Va.
