Shades of “Miracle on 34th Street”: Santa Claus goes on trial in the Dec. 23 episode of “Highway to Heaven” on NBC. The story has Jonathan (Michael Landon) going to work for a law firm that’s been asked to defend a department store Santa (Bill Erwin) fired for protesting the store’s promotion of toy weapons.

Maureen Anderman joins the cast of “The Equalizer” in Wednesday’s episode as a former Agency associate of McCall’s (Edward Woodward) who now runs a restaurant. In this week’s show on CBS, she helps him deal with a case involving a 6-year-old AIDS victim.

Lee Remick will host “Remembering Marilyn,” an hourlong special for ABC about the late screen star Marilyn Monroe. Also appearing on the program will be Gloria Steinem, Robert Wagner, Robert Mitchum and Susan Strasberg.

CBS has set Dec. 30 as the telecast date for “The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts.” Due to be honored this year for their lifetime achievements are Perry Como, Bette Davis, Sammy Davis Jr., Nathan Milstein and Alwin Nikolais. Walter Cronkite will host the telecast.

One of the most talked-about episodes from the first season of “L.A. Law” will be rebroadcast on NBC Dec. 24. It’s the one in which lawyer Stuart Markowitz (Michael Tucker) learns of a sexual technique called the Venus Butterfly. Many viewers wrote in following the original broadcast for more explicit information, only to learn that writers Terry Louise Fisher and Steven Bochco had made it up.

John Walsh, whose late son was the subject of the TV movie “Adam,” will be the host of “America’s Most Wanted,” a new series that will premiere on KTTV Channel 11 in January. The weekly show will feature dramatic re-creations of crimes in hopes that viewers can provide information that will lead to finding the perpetrators.

David Hasselhoff, the former star of “Knight Rider,” calls on Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) to defend him in the next “Perry Mason” movie for NBC, “The Case of the Lady in the Lake.” Also starring in the film, which involves the disappearance of an heiress, are John Beck, Audra Lindley, Barbara Hale, William Katt and David Ogden Stiers.
